nWaku version: v0.37 (harbor.status.im/wakuorg/nwaku:debug-bandwidth-consumption-in-v0-37-rc)

task: vac:dst:waku:2025q4-waku-evaluation:regression-testing

Summary:

We conducted initial nwakuv0.37 regression tests for versions v0.35, v0.36, and v0.37. During these tests, we observed that v0.37 demonstrated significantly higher bandwidth utilization than earlier versions. To investigate further, we evaluated an experimental build, v0.37-lp2p-1.10.1, which exhibited similar behavior. For a deeper examination of the suspected performance degradation, we deployed a small experiment with peers assigned to nwaku roles (store, lpserver, lpclient, fserver, fclient, bootstrap). We report mean bandwidth utilization for each role, along with a protocol-level breakdown, to identify any significant issues or anomalies.
